The environmental impact of alpaca is remarkably low due to the animal's gentle nature. Alpacas have soft, padded feet that don't damage the land, and they graze without pulling up roots, allowing plants to regenerate. Their lanolin-free fleece also requires significantly less water and fewer chemicals to process than sheep's wool.

The social and ethical impact, however, is a critical concern. The livelihoods of millions of Andean farmers depend on alpaca fiber.
